Patrice Delmotte is an amateur photographer based in Taipei City, Taiwan. Despite his love for drawing and engraving, his career afforded him little time for the arts until he received his first camera as a birthday present in 2005. The timing was perfect as Patrice was preparing to retire and he fully embraced photography.
Patrice said, “I was influenced by Sebastião Salgado, whom I greatly admire for the precision, accuracy, and the poetry of his work, even in the most dramatic scenes. I also try to work with light, like the chiaroscuro so popular among Flemish painters or the bright light of the tropics. I hope that the emotion and atmospheres that appear in my work reflect and express my passion for Asia.”
Patrice Delmotte has self-published 30+ books because he feels, “The great danger of digital is to accumulate photos without actually making them alive.”
